Fractured fibula (7 inches up from ankle) and fractured posterior malleolus missed - discharged with sprained ankle diagnosis. I described severe pain in my ankle and calf to the doctor and nurse. The pain in my calf was dismissed. After three days and four nights of severe pain that comes from waking and sleeping with un-stabilized leg fractures, I went back to the ER where they found that my fibula was fractured and the back of my Tibia (posterior malleolus) was also fractured. When I filed a complaint, I was told that since my complaints about the pain coming from the fibula fracture were not documented and were not captured in the x-ray of my ankle, they were not accountable and therefore refused any billing adjustments or compensation.
